Question about my new Molly...

My Molly from ebay (with silver eye) finally came and my question is.. her tag says Made in Germany Pleasant Company 1986. I have a PM Samantha and she has no tag so I can't compare it. I thought that they all had to say West Germany. Do you think Molly is a fake? I compared her to Samantha and her body is just the same..height, weight, etc. I am going to send her to the Doll Hospital to have them fix her eye (only her eye because she is REALLY pretty). Just wondering if anyone elses doll had the same tag.

LOTS of PM dolls have no tags--that's one way to tell if it's PM. The whole tag thing is a bit confusing, because for awhile the earliest dolls had tags, then no tags, and then tags again when Mattel took over in 1998. Also, the 1986 date on tags refers to the copyright date, or the year the company was founded, NOT necessarily the year the doll was made.

But rest assured, no tag on your lovely Samantha is just another sign that she IS a genuine Pre-Mattel AG doll. [img]smile.gif[/img]

While cleaning Molly I noticed she did have an artist mark just like my PM Samantha so she must be authentic right? I will post pictures later whe I am all finishe cleaning her up. I am so excited!!!

The dolls first said West Germany, and then when the Berlin Wall came down the tags began to say Germany. [img]smile.gif[/img]
